I am using linux ubuntu and linux-mint brimful example, notwithstanding acquire been using a machine via a windows tool.I'd suchlike to enter an all in one printer/scanner to my unix box. I soul a come of documents that I would similar to interpret and book digitally. So an all in one laser with an effortless to unite scanner and house printing would be beneficent.Any suggestions greatly understood.

I have a HP 1500 that scans and prints compartment low linux. Withal, I haven't initiate a clean OCR info in linux that can duplication that in HP windows. OCR is sincere problem in unix - all the programs I've reliable are riddled with errors spell the Windows equal gives most 99% truth.

Have you seen Lexmark and/or Kyocera products? Both of these manufactures acquire greatly improved their Linux living. My older Lexmark and Kyocera laser printers operate pulverised in Linux. If you mean to buy a new machine, then try before you buy. Any unobjectionable vendor will afford you to link their display/demo printers to your laptop or netbook - this testament rapidly show if the claimed Linux validation actually entirety.BTW. As has been already said, refrain Canon!

I can't take a representation but i can vouch for HP on linux. I retributory bought a HP inkjet with scanning, etc. It wasn't based out of the box on ubuntu because it's a relatively new pattern and i'm on 10.04 but i meet downloaded the fashionable edition of hplip and it all worked good. Hplip regularize heard and separate the old type. It's a wirelessly networked printer and hplip detects it pulverized on the material and installs it dead. It serves both windows and ubuntu machines without a worry.

I have a HP Officejet 8500 three-in-one (variety ink jet tho', not laser). Worked out of the box with unix (at least via ethernet conductor, shelter't reliable wireless).I'd certainly care at HP again if buying a new machine for linux (also for Macs).
