Default Placing generated keys in a NON-home directory is deed problems assured copying.

    Finally,
I'm disagreeable to set up a key convert for www-data to run scp in a php book via the php's exec use. The goal with the keys is to get around the password have. For certificate purposes, on the germ computer, my www-data exoteric and private keys people in their own non-home directory which is chmoded to 700. During key generation, I elected to love NO Arcanum Catchword. The open7 key has been successfully copied over to the removed server via ."ssh-copy-id -i /my/pubkey/filename extuser@remotehost".And added to extuser's authorized_keys file. The difficulty is, when I run the succeeding as www-data from the bid destination, it keeps asking for my watchword shibboleth."scp -i /my/pubkey/filename /home/www/randomFile extuser@remotehost:/home/extuser/".I've had no problems in the late when the keys are set in the Institution directory, but when placed in a NON-HOME dir, it's not cooperating. Any suggestions, please?

When working scp with the -i deciding, it should be your backstage key you're sharing the course of, not your public one.

Interesting. I'll try that. Which key should be passed when lengthwise ssh-copy-id to be further to authorized_keys then, the nonpublic one? Also, to create the key I ran,ssh-keygen -t rsa.Would it micturate a difference if it was dsa instead of rsa?Alter!! Did exactly as you said, ishnid, and it entireness! Not just certain why but thanks.

Your exoteric key should be on the tool that you're disagreeable to log in to. That's what ssh-copy-id is doing. When logging in, you pauperism to use your secret key. The -i reverse is retributory yarn the scp information where your private key is placed.
