Thread: Could not open socket.

I'm using PHP on a centos server to send emails out. It should use smtp with marker to channel out and one of the credentials is the hostname but in disagreeable to use those credentials I get this error:Zend_Mail_Protocol_Exception: Could not ingenuous socket..Still, when using an ip code instead of the multitude's make it seems to activity making me cerebrate this is a computer issue/Centos egress. What should I do to fix this?
