Ubuntu can be installed using either the live install CD or the alternate install CD. Considering that a lot of people have older hardware, and in order to use a method suitable for everyone, for this article I will choose the alternate install CD.
The Live CD installs much slower than the alternate installer, though lhe installation steps are easier, and gives the user the opportunity to try out the distro before installing it. The alternate install CD can be downloaded from lgetubuntuJdownload. Make sure to check the box that says, "Check here if you need the alternate desktop CD.
This CD does not include the Live CD; instead, it uses a text-based installer", just below the "Start Download" button, else you will end up downloading a Live install CD.
