Preload is the most effective way to make commonly-used applications load faster. It starts up while the system boots, monitors commonly used applications and pre-fetches the files from the disk that these applications use, thus reducing the start-up times.

All the information gathered by preload is stored in a file so that preload can maintain its efficiency across reboots. The default configuration file is /etc/preload. cor!,/. No values need to be changed in this file. Preload works smartly in daemonised mode even without tweaking. To install preload, issue the following command:
