    Default Linux for a newbie

    For that I have no idea of linux, what do you suggest I use linux for starters? I have thought of doing a partition on the same pc and can choose one to start the pc.

    You have many distros simple and derivatives such as Ubuntu (Kubuntu, Lubuntu Linux Mint is also can be tested to see which you like better, remember that you can run as Live CD / USB to keep trying. When you see one you like install it and enjoy. A greeting.

    It is best to try them yourself, as you said Cridol, for a first impression can be used as a LiveCD, and if you want to investigate something else install programilla or tweaking things, you can always install them in virtual machines like VirtualBox .

    I personally prefer Kubuntu. KDE is a very complete desktop and brings everything. With this desktop very rarely need to use the console if you are not accustomed, is also similar to Windows so that the transition will not be as traumatic as with Ubuntu.


    Also Ubuntu lacks many things necessary for the configuration with standard Kubuntu will have them as NTFS partitions automatically mounted at boot without having to give a thousand laps on the console or the text editor.
