With 4 GB swap spare you (perhaps too much, but they recommend the same amount of ram k), and the rest as you say. I would not do To boot partition.
Hello all, I have a pc where you only want to install Ubuntu on a 1TB hard drive. I wonder if I make 3 partitions such as:
/ 100Gb Swap 8GB (I have 4GB of RAM) / Home Remaining space.
Or rather it would be advisable to make a fourth for / boot. Where do / boot I devote much space?
With 4 GB swap spare you (perhaps too much, but they recommend the same amount of ram k), and the rest as you say. I would not do To boot partition.
I had in mind to make the / boot, but as I had seen somewhere that recommended it I decided to ask. For the root partition with 100GB I get? I have plenty on all sides Gb xD I was accustomed to a 120Gb disk.
GB left over you everywhere. Unless you are going to install a lot of programs and games, with 20 GB for / and about enough. The swap with that memory you'll rarely use, so that 1 GB is left over. But better wait for the experts. I always speak from the typical home use, if it is to work with heavy programs is another matter.
I long ago that only the / (20GB) and swap (1GB). Then do the rest another ext4 partition to store the data. When I have the newly installed system and I always make a custom backup / partition with "FSArchiver" about what might happen.
I forgot, now that "er_feo" quotes the disk image with "FSArchiver" I remember that I have prepared an external hard drive to backup data once set the whole team. The question is to know which would best program to manage backups the "FSArchiver" or "clonezilla" than that seen in other forums speak very well of him with characteristics very similar to Norton Ghost.
