Default Putting in ubuntu with rEFIT on MacBook Pro.

Hi, I have dual boot MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6 and windows 7, when I included a 3rd boot division of Ubuntu to my existing machine utilizing a grub it looks to have discredited my windows 7 boot and it is not operating now! I have rEFIT boot partition selector screen but I am not capable to enter in to the windows 7 when I click on it!When I test out to go in to the windows 7 with rEFIT or by agreeing the OPT button at startup it returns me to the Grub selector once again from where I had takan the windows 7 choice clicking on which I determing nothing ahead and it only gives blank area. i have read few cases like this where users have set up the grub into the windows 7 partition but this doesn’t seem like my trouble here?

The trouble with your machine is that when you re-repartitioned with your machine for set up Ubuntu you may have substituted the windows by the Ubuntu system and since of that windows 7 is not view in the Hybrid MBR! Now next these steps:
Download GPT fdisk for OSx or Linux edition , set up the GPT fdisk , later that go to terminal, for ubuntu kind this: sudo gdisk /dev/sda and for mac OSX type this: sudo gdisk /dev/disk0 , this will introduced the gdisk.

Just now write “p” to seen the division table, hold in mind that OS X’s utility doesn’t view the EFI system division. If table seems fault then type the “q” to Exit. Now type “h” to make the latest Hybrid MBR. You will require to kind up to 3 division numbers. You can type “5 6” or “6 5” for windows and shared information division. You will be asked for more data, put 0xEE partition first in the table And then alter the type cipher to “0c” and select “y” to tell it to put Windows partition's boot/active flag. Don’t make any second partition for now!

No, that would have been more problems to you eliminating the aspect of the Grub set up on the MBR! See, multiple MBR can carry only three categories and resources used to make multiple MBR without consideration involve the first 3 categories they see! You had set up the OSX and Unix like first which comprehend the GPt so they do not need place in the multiple MBR but since they were set up previously than windows they took the place and now there is no place foe windows OS.

Thanks for that! Can you tell me why Mac’s default repel selector views the windows division as an choice if it is not going to boot as taken! Is it something like MBR directing it incorrectly as making selection? Why windows broke down to boot when taken from GRUB menu? What if I delete entire the ubuntu and windows entirely and set up the new copy of windows once again, will it make my windows work right? Or I would yet have to make settings with MBR?

I am not sure about the Mac’s built-in boot selector but I can say that when it scans for the GPT division, it determine the windows and gives you minus seeing its entry in MBR and thus windows broke down to boot when you take it! Windows broke down to load from Grub , is not Grub’s error but windows! Microsoft doesn’t permit their OSs to boot on GPT from BIOS based machine it also doesn’t affirm edition of EFI that Apple utilizes! To boot windows in Mac , apple has utilized Bios emulation layer in EFI, since of which Mac seems like bios based machine! Windows dissimilar the OSX and Linux it gives the side precedence to the GPT, when windows views the hybrid MBR.
