In principle it is possible. It however requires some hacks and profound knowledge of Linux. With a pre-distribution, as known from PC, you will have a little fun on a phone, because there are many things governed entirely different from the PC.

Sure, if you manage to integrate the drivers for the hardware of the phone. Resolution and things like that would be the smallest problem.

But theoretically, you could screw down the graphics resolution to avoid costly and use it then or I see anything? edit: are current smartphones since 32/64 bit capable?

In principle, yes running with Android on most smartphones already Linux anyway - the same goes for the xperia-called mini pro.Drivers should also be in the kernel. (If not, you may get you through the GPL code from the manufacturer.) It is therefore crucial, especially if the phone allows it to strike up a "foreign" firmware. There are indeed quite devices that allow this, but most are übelst verdongled, so you can make the software anything. An attempt will be more than this, that you brickst your device.

Without the willingness to invest in this project a few dozen hours to put to work and may accept some frustrating setbacks, you should think twice about you that again. At least basic knowledge of Linux is elementary.
