A simple board, wish some special features f6r India-that's the Asus P5KPL-AM/PS. This board isn't intended for the power mad overclockers and garmers; it's meant for people for people who want a no-frills board at a reasonable price. The LGA-775 board supports all the Core 2 Intel processors. You can plug in a maximum of 4 GB ofDDR2-800 RAM, and it also supports a FSB speed of 1333 MHz. Usefully, this board supports Gigabit Ethernet, a COM port, and a Parallel port.
The board also has four USB ports, on-board audio and video (based on the Intel GMA 3100 chip), four SATA ports, and the usual IDE and floppy connector. All this is pretty standard, but Asus says that this board has an on-board IC that detects voltage fluctuations and shuts the board down in case of any danger. The idea is to protect the board from faulty PSUs, a common cause of fried boards in cheaper PCs.
In WoridBench 6, our in house benchmarking suite, this board scored 126.

This is pretty much in the middle of pack for Intel boards, and a decent result for a budget board. In SYSMark, the board got an overall score of 160. The rest ofthe tests were no different: 17,775 in 3D Mark 2006, 11,291 in PCMark2005, 11,703 in
Cine bench and so on. To put these numbers in perspective, they were between 10-15 percent less than a mid-range gaming board like the ECS P45T-AD3. That board had a lot more features and costs quite a bit more. All in all, this is a solid board for the price. We weren't able to test the voltage regulation features, but since it doesn't add to the price, it's a good thing.
