Once more we have an in-depth review of a motherboard. This time it is the nForce 680i LT SLI chipset. We will observe if this board can match performance with other top of the line chipsets.
What you get
You are not missing anything here. You get the works in terms of accessories. It is nice to see a motherboard fully stocked, but then again this is not a budget motherboard. You do not get shorted on SATA cables that are for sure. Let us take a look at the board. It is what you really want to see.
This is your typical NVIDIA reference board. NVIDIA creates their own motherboard and distributes it to other companies so they do not have to build up their own boards. Companies such as EVGA or XFX mainly make graphics cards, and do not want to spend the time to build up their own. This is why you may see many boards identical to this.
This board will support all of Intel’s new CPUs out of the pack. This is not a big deal now, but might be in the future. In case you do not follow technology that much, Intel is releasing a whole bunch of new native quad core CPUs. These and the latest speed bump from Intel will run on a higher 1333 MHz bus. These new CPUs will probably require a new BIOS update to get the CPUs to work out of the box. This is not a problem unless you do not have another CPU lying around. This motherboard is more future proof than other boards.
