    Default Video and Memory problems

I am suffering from two major problem with my Gigabyte GA-K8U-939 mobo:

    1. While I see 1G in bios, Windows will identify only 768M

    2. Video card which only works in it is a very getting on, 16M, ATI card. Recently I attempted to change it with a Radeon 9550 SE 128M but it does not work.

I do not know whether the two issue are related (is it possible that the 16M video card assigns 256M for itself?).

Yes the card should be sharing the computer RAM to give best performance and that is why the computer is showing 768Mbs of RAM. The BIOS of the motherboard should be upgraded so that it detects latest devices connected to it. Search for the process to upgrade the BIOS depending on the model of the motherboard you are using and upgrade it.
