Thread: Dell PC continues shutting down

I have installed XP on my Dell dimension 4600 PC and it is attached to internet connection. But now problem is this PC continues shutting down after 15-20 minutes. When PC started it shows generic host error and says PC will shut down in few minutes. So please help me to solve this problem.

I think the problem with OS it must be not functioning appropriately, or may be problem happening due to OS failure. So boot your PC with installation disk again. This reinstallation will solve your problem.

Every task of PC is handled by motherboard but if motherboard is defective then PC starts restarting or continues shut down. Check your motherboard and if it is defective then change it. Changing motherboard may solve your problem.

This problem may happen because of viruses so scan PC with updated antivirus. Viruses may damage your files and causes that OS won’t work correctly. Thus scan PC to detect infected files then repair or quarantine them and check whether problem solves or not.
