Default Reducing boot time on PCs considerably

The central component of your PC system is a Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6ŽMalnboard. The booting process lasts for eternity: Its takes 20 whole seconds for Windows to start-much longer than on comparable PCs.

The waiting period usually starts at a point where the SATA devices are detected and integrated into the configuration; these devices run in the IDE compatibility mode (more common with older generations of hard disks). Such SATA deVices, however, are rarely found in new systems today. Hence, the BIOS waits for them to initialize when it really doesn't need to, only to decide later that there is no corresponding drive. Accelerate the system startup dramatically by deactivating all virtual IDE channels in the BIOS (select 'NONE' here, instead of 'AUTO').

These settings do not have any influence on the function of, say, IDEŽDVD burners, which 'hang' at a genuine, physical IDE port.
