Well it sounds this is a motherboard specially developed for Dell computers. So if your PC is a dell what is the model number of your PC?

I own a Dell Inspiron 531. What I have to to know if really I can use an AMD x2 4400 CPU with that motherboard. The CPU that came with it is a 4000.

Yes you can use the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6400+ Processor in the same system and it works superb. And according to me this is the maximum upgrade with full compatibility after a bios update from dell. Be certain to update the BIOS before you install the CPU.

Hello, new here. Found while researching this mobo. I gave up trying to find a manual for this Dell board. As usual for proprietary boards it is difficult to find info. I just put in the stuff I had lying around from other upgrades. Here is how it started and ended.

My wifes computer, actually, was having difficulties with streaming video off the net. Dell support only could march her through "updating the drivers". They would never admit that it just was not enough of a computer to do this. Also, she runs Vista 32, yuk. It was a 531 with 1 gig of ram, onboard video that shared that ram. 320 gig hard drive, AMD Athlon dual core 5000+. It is now 3 gig ram, nVidia 7600 PCIe 512M ram video, and a thermallake gigantic cpu cooler. I moved the 512m x 2 = 1 gig to the second two ram slots and stuck 2 x 1 gig = 2 gig in first slots. Kinda risky I suppose because the old ram was PC 5300 and the new I installed was PC 3200. In the old days of computers they always said if mixing speeds put the slower stuff first and it might work and it did this time. I am grateful to Dell or ASUS or whoever decided this generic board needed 4 slots. It ran all night long without a hitch, at least 6 hours of video from hulu nonstop.
