Default Upgrade problem ASUS M4A78 pro, AMD Phenom 550

I have this weird trouble with the M4A78 pro board. Presently it runs lacking a trouble fair an AMD 6400 x2, 4GB of 800 MHz RAM (Kingston of 2 GB). Now I acquire the AMD Phenom 550 x2, but when I fix it in, it doesn't post (no video signal, no beep. I do notice the CD-ROM responding as well as my hard disk spins up although) I think the CPU is a bit more power starving, I separated my PCI-E card (Asus 3400) as well as all of the none necessary HDD’s (had 6 running in there) moreover left only my OS disk. Alas no go. Did someone meet any related problems, as well as if so, what was the resolution?

I think it will only run with 1066 MHz memory, but before I run of and go get it, I’d like to make in no doubt.

Any thoughts will be very much respected.

Go to Asus website as well as glance at the CPU compatibility list, you should have done that before you purchase. See if your motherboard supports Phenom 2 550's. If it does then you must have the wrong bios. You don’t require new memory.

That motherboard definitely supports your Phenom 550 x2 as well as I believe the Phenom utilize less power than the 6400 (125W, I believe).

I think you're right about a memory upgrade. AMD shows the M4A78T-E as being well-matched with the Phenom 550 as well as that MB takes a least amount of 1066 MHz memory.

Here's the newest version BIOS that ASUS lists for the M4A78 Pro:

    ASUSTeK Computer Inc.
