    Default Memory problem Asus P6T

I recently purchased an ASUS P6T iX58 Socket 1366 8 channel audio ATX Motherboard

I only have half the parts so far for my new build, getting the next lot in a few days, but I decided to put what I had together anyway. I notice the blue thingy (sorry don’t know what it is) at the top of the motherboard was only held in by one black push clip, the other wasn't in properly.

So I pushed it in myself and now it’s snug. Then I got idea.....what is it? What does it do? Does it matter that it wasn’t held on at first?

Please could anyone put my mind at rest, do i need to send it back or is it ok?

The blue thingy with the fins is a heatsink for some of the chips - what you did was a good thing because it needs to press definitely against the chips in order to do its job.

But all i did was push it back in where the hole would allow it. It’s not in fact touching anything that i can see, unless those chips you talked about are underneath?

I assume there are some chips underneath because if there aren't then I can't imagine why there'd be a heatsink there.

I think that is the heatsink for the voltage regulation / phase controller. It sits on top of a chip; as long as it is making good contact (not wobbly) it should be fine.
