Some sorts of RAM are hungry for volts, particularly RAM from OCZ. Luckily, for those who like RAM but do not have motherboards capable of given that, OCZ also formed OCZ DDR Booster, a "volt mod in a box." Does this device actually do as advertised?
We have already seen some special RAM from OCZ that needed many volts to run. Many motherboards do not recommend more volts essential to run modules quick. Earlier, there has been only one solution that is volt mod the motherboard. Some RAM even needed you to mod power supply also.
This would cancel warranty of motherboard and power supply. For those of us that don’t want to go through the bother of volt moding, OCZ has created a device to help us with our problems. The OCZ DDR Booster will permit people to boost VDIMM up to 3.9 volts, more than enough to supply hungriest of RAM.
Initial thoughts
Many research operations are done before getting booster. It looks that booster has many problems but do not know whether this is true. OCZ did go so far as to create another revision to it. The latest version looks better. As far as presentation, it will base on motherboard. OCZ has a compatibility sheet on website about which boards it works with and at what volts it can run. The DDR Booster is acceptable up to 3.9 volts, but getting a board that it will work with up to 3.4 is tough. If you board works with it, you want to put it in a special DIMM number slot.
