The above shown is 1 GB dual channel kit of OCZ VX PC3200. They also creates PC4000 version of similar memory. With most memories you obtain memory and a warranty that says "you overclock, they are yours forever." Or if you overclock, you have no option to RMA them ever. With OCZ, instead of warranting clock speeds, they warrant against too many volts. So how many volts could you pump into these modules and still keep your warranty? Try 3.5 volts. While many other companies only offer warranties that last for a year or two, OCZ will coat them for a lifetime.
One thing I understand when dealing with OCZ is easiness and assurance to customers by OCZ employees. I often notice OCZ employees asking questions about their RAM, and what you can expect from various kinds of RAM. If there was one moment when I knew that OCZ was best with customer service, it was when I saw one employee helping somebody with a power supply problem. They ended up fixing it. When you purchase any OCZ product, you are obtaining backing of everyone at company, with an exceptional warranty.
As PC4000 and PC3200 have similar chips, what is difference? Actually there is not any difference, other than speeds they can hit with certain volts straight off truck. Once OCZ obtains a shipment of chips in hand test, it’s every module at a certain timing and speed. The modules that can make DDR500 with 2-2-2-8 timings at 3.3 volts are marked as PC4000; all else is tested at DDR400 2-2-2-8 at 3.2 volts. You may enable to obtain DDR500 after an appropriate burn in. If your motherboard can’t give that many volts, OCZ creates a DDR Booster to give extra juice for you.
