The other two disadvantages storage capacity, price, Kingston has erased them by putting their large manufacturing capacity behind SD. With efficiency of scale that smaller flash memory providers do not have, they have brought price of their SD memory within $5-10 of comparable CF densities for base speed cards. The "ultra" 8-9MB/s high speed versions of both platforms are around similar cost.
Here we look to the base speed model. This is not an optimal choice for cameras that want speed in card for continuous shooting. Other than that, performance of card won't affect use for playing back audio or visual media; anything that a typical PDA is really able of decoding will be slower than maximum transfer rate of the card.
Where you will see a difference is loading to and reading data from card. Filling it with music for an MP3 player or PDA, or video, or pictures is slow and painful. The similar goes for transferring from it. If you are going to continuously empty and fill, it would be advantageous to obtain a faster one also.
