The Motherboard, Processor, and Memory - Installing a Pentium 4 and Athalon XP Cooler
1. Find the black base bracket around the CPU. Fix the 4 tall pillars in each corner. The cooler’s bracket will line up with the motherboard bracket and break into slots on the base. The cooler has 2 levels that, when set, put pressure to the heat sink to keep it in connection with the CPU.
2. If the processor came with thermal tape, take out the backing. If not, spread a thin layer of thermal compound on the metal over the processor.
3. Hook up the fan’s 3 wire power lead in a nearby 3 pin receptacle on the motherboard.
4. Put the heat sink on the processor into the motherboard bracket. Then, lower the fan bracket in its place, breaking every corner. At last, set the 2 layers to lock it in its place with pressure on the CPU.
