Asus P5K-E/WiFi-AP is Intel well-suited motherboard. RAM Issues
Users have many memory associated problems with P5K-E/WiFi-AP. They solved by flashing motherboard's BIOS. P5K-E/WiFi-AP holds DDR2 running at 667, 800, or 1066 bandwidths. Users must not install DDR2 553 memory sticks. Few users who install pair of Corsair CM2X1024-6400 DDR2 800 memory sticks face problems when booting up machine. If user takes out one of RAM, PC boots up usually. To solve this problem as using 2 memory sticks, BIOS should be updated to v0403 or later version.
Networking Problems
Asus P5K-E/WiFi-AP characteristics onboard networking controllers, has Marvell 88E8056 Gigabit PCI-E LAN controller. In "Speed & Duplex" settings, device caps you set network traffic at 100 Mbps because of driver limits. If user selects to permit for auto-negotiation, though, device is able of working at 1,000 Mbps.
CPU Problems
P5K-3 doesn’t support Intel processors with FSB of 533 MHz; FSB should work at 800 MHz Asus gives a list of compatible CPUs. PC working with BIOS older than v0802 report wrong CPU temperatures if user has installed Intel Core 2 Duo 2.66 GHz (E6750).
Linux Issues
Linux users have troubles with Ubuntu and onboard WiFi. WiFi takes much time to attach, then works low speed. In some time, connection ends, and user should reset router or restart PC.
Miscellaneous Problems
P5K-E/WiFi-AP users not utilize both digital and analog audio jacks together in Vista, though this is permitted in XP. Few users face problems with starting PC with USB keyboards, which repaired by flashing BIOS to v1202.
