Thread: Mobo supports dual channel

I using Gigabyte GA-MA790GPT-UD3H Motherboard and it say it chains dual channel. I am thoughts about Ramming 2 x 2gb sticks of Corsair XMS3 ram since I have been having some timing issues with it. They were hypothetical to be good at 7-8-7-20 but I can't play games unless they're set at 9-9-9-24. If I RMA these, I'd like to pick up 3 x 2gb setup. Would that third stick be running single channel or what? Would I be better off sticking with either 4 or 8 GB?

You can't run dual conduit with three sticks of ram. However, aside from benchmarks, dual channel doesn't actually offer real world benefit.

You are right, I don't observe. It works well from what I can tell at 9-9-9-24 1t so I may remain them. I just don't know what I would advantage from by jumping to either 6 GB or 8 GB.
