Thread: Vista crash after replacing new motherboard

Recently I changed my motherboard and I assemble the whole thing. Everything works fine apart from the boot hard drive, Windows Vista launches, and next asks me to perform a restore or start normally. If I restore, it ends by saying that there is a problem. In normal mode it crashes and reboots for an indefinite period. Could someone tell me how knowing that I want to keep all information contained on this disc and the version of Vista was preinstalled. Thanks in advance for any solution.

If you changed the motherboard you need to format and reinstall windows once again. Also if you have a Windows preinstalled, I doubt whether a Windows box. So if it is a Windows OEM, it is attached to the motherboard and therefore you will get another license.

Regarding the data, you can try to start perhaps in safe mode and observe if you can boot or not. If you cannot, the only solution is to put this drive in an external box connected by USB or eSATA and to safeguard the docs.
