Virtual memory is hardware procedure where the system shown to have more memory that it actually does. This is done by time-sharing, the physical memory and storage components of the memory one disk when they are not actively being used.

I heard about the term virtual memory before but never know for what purpose it is used, it was great to know about it's functionality.
