This depends on your usage patterns. If you want decent performance, then a better processor would obviously be more beneficial to a faster computer, than a quality moth¬erboard. On the other hand, if you want a really good platform to build on, and plan on upgrading your processor as soon as something faster is released, then you better look at a quality motherboard first.

Also, if you plan on overclocking, then a good motherboard coupled with a value proces¬sor can bring about much higher gains. This is because cost¬ly boards contain better grade components and are thus are able to withstand the rigours of overclocking.
