Default ON-Board Integrated sound not working, help please and get points.?

I've got Custom Machine recently, and everything is going great. It's blazing fast, super-good graphics, everything is good. Also, when I first got it I installed the drivers for the motherboard and the sound worked, now it doesn't after I installed different OS (I got XP SP2 now). I had to but a PCI Sound Card, but it would really help if I can get this on-board audio fixed. I tried installing the drivers over and over, software, you name it - the sound doesn't work...I think it's disabled in the BIOS so if anyone knows how to do it plese help ASAP, it's a realtek HIGH DEFINITION sound.Asus P5B SE MotherboardIntel Quad-Core ProcessorAnd i don't think the rest will help solving the problem, please help!

The sound drivers on the CD that came with it is CRAP. its outdated.Use the drivers online at the manufacturer's website. What do you mean "it worked but it didnt work after installing different OS"???? Did it work on vista? if so, then the driver is probably compatible on vista only. You can try finding XP drivers on the manufacturer's website.

Look in the MB manual about the BIOS/CMOS settings for the sound. There may be a resource conflict as well, check for that. Look for updated drivers and maybe check out what updates where made with more recent firmware.

Try going into the device manager first and removing the audio from the device manager. Reboot the machine and see if it reinstalls the drivers correctly for it.

Ok. Just to clarify. After setting it up the system with what I am assuming is XP, everything worked fine. But when you installed SP2 the sound stopped working. I'm assuming that the speakers are hooked up correctly and that any software for them are installed.Does the "speaker" show up by your time?1. When you go into the control panel and "sounds, speech and audio" and click on Sounds and Audio Devices: does it list the sound card? If not: Click on the Audio Tab and see if it is listed in the "drop down menu". If so, select it and then click on the Sounds tab, make sure there is a sound scheme selected and try to play one of the items with the speaker next to it.If not: Click on the Hardware Tab and make sure the Sound Card is listed there. Click on it and make sure it says "Device is working properly".If after trying this it still doesn't work, please let me know. It could be a codec issue. As for the BIOS, most systems have you tap the "Delete" key on boot up to enter the bios.If you are downgrading from Vista see the documents below:
