    Default Serious heat problem?

Last time I had problem with ATI card getting very hot. For the time being I removed the ATI Card. Now its with the processor. I hate to say but any program like Sensors View pro shows that my processor temperature is going to 71 to 73 degrees centigrade just after 10 after starting my system. It has been two days I was out of station. I come, I switch on the pc and it reports that the processor is at 63 degrees. In 10 minutes it goes to 71 degrees. I opened up the cabinet to let air flow but no improvement. My cabinet has a fan in the rear (not psu fan), and the intel stock fan. What ever I do temperature is the same. Intel desktop utilities report that it 22 degrees away from burn out. Are my motherboard sensors bad? I don't know. Can anyone tell me what is normal temp.My proc : Intel Core 2 Duo 1.86 Ghz1 Gb 533 Mhz RAMIntel DG965RY motherboard.I have seen a Pentium D dual core being at 44 degrees after 1 hour of working with the fan config same as mine and even cabinet closed.

Sounds like your heatsink is not making proper contact with your processor, check that first before doing anything too exotic. Could be just a seating issue, or not enough or too much thermal interface compound. In any case, it should run at something like 28c idle and 35c under load. Good luck...

    Default Serious heat problem?

WOW that is hot! My 6700 Runs at 47 C load overclocked!Anyways here is a simple solutionIf you got a big box comp store by you or any computer store by you go buy this stuff called "artic silver 5" It is thermal paste. Its about 6 bucks for a tube of itThen turn off your comp and open up your case. take the heat sink off, remove the cpu also. Clean off the paste off the bottom of the heatsink and off the top of the CPU. DONT USE WATER!!!!!! use a paper towel and if it is hard to get off USE RUBBING ALCHOLE ( typos bad speller sorry ) This will not damage your stuff as long as you give it time to dry. Pour it on the paper towel and not the HS or cpu.Once done , replace the cpu in the socket, and then apply the paste on the cpu... you dont need alot just a little ....make an X across the cpu with the paste.. Then re install the heat sink. This should helpIF YOU DONT want to try the AS5 paste, then you may need to remove the HS and re mount it. It could be that its not making good contact with the CPU.Doing the AS5 paste thing doesnt hurt, but if thats to much work like I said try to remount the HS
