My computer keeps conking out?
I took my computer totaly appart and had written down where all the cables go even for the front pannel but it will conk out sometimes on the boot screen and even on the windows start up screen. the power connections are good and no pins are bent. My motherboard was left unpluged for a week completly appart from everything. and only got this problem when i have tried to get it all running again. Also there is nothing touching anything and the ram cards are in and the CPU is on right. i have also replaced the onboard small battery CR2032 and had the problem before and still after.thanks for any help

My computer keeps conking out?
That's usually caused by a RAM error. Did you take precautions against static? Try taking out the RAM and putting it back in again. If that doesn't solve the problem, you may need new RAM.

If it's getting past the Bios screen's it's not a ram problem. Sounds more like an electric issue, surging purhaps? take it to a shop....sounds like you've done enough.

My computer keeps conking out?
The computer I am using at the moment has a suspect power connection to one of the hard drives which can cause random problems now & then, maybe you also have a connection which is just not snug enough and working loose with vibration, hard to tell without seeing setup & more info.Happy hunting.

Hi. Since you can sometimes get to the Windows screen my first thought would be a power supply problem.

Could be a number of issues causing this, and its difficult to say exactly which problem it is. If there was a cable not plugged in correctly, then its unlikely the computer would reach the Windows boot screen. There could be a problem with the Bios, so you could enter the Bios and reset it to factory default settings. The Cmos might need to be cleared, you'll have to read your motherboard instructions to see how to clear that as it usually means removing a jumper pin for several seconds. If there was a problem with corrupt Windows files, then it would not stop working simply on the initial boot screen. I would take out any non-essential hardware such as the CD drive, sound card, and any peripherals such as printers and see if the problem continues. See if the computer will boot into Windows safe-mode by pressing F8 at start-up. Other than that, it could be a faulty piece of hardware such as motherboard, RAM, hard drive or processor. Sorry I can't be of any more help, but its a case of testing each piece of hardware individually which means replacing each hardware and see if the computer works with a replacement. Out of all the hardware, the hard drive is the one item that can become faulty more than the others.

i read your question. i thought - this is a boot file corruption. so times it will happen some power failure. it your using window, try to repair the operating system using operating system CD.and other possibility is, it may the effect of virus.
