The Foxconn motherboard is 975X7AB-2.0, as mentioned in name by the Intel 975X chipset ICH7R. This chipset supports two parallel graphics cards (Crossfire AMD) and is usually a bit faster than the newer P965 chipset. The P965 chipset, however, uses the ICH8 support and can rely on better management ability (GMA X3000/3000 improved integrated graphics core, the extended IAMT technology and a smart fan and temperature control) and two independent USB 2.0 controller.
A major advantage of the 975X chipset, especially for overclockers is the adjustable Ramteiler. When the P965 chipset memory clock is synchronized to the FSB only variable, the 975X chipset can overclock the memory down despite high processor FSB. This body can be taken to overclock Value Ram, which do not create high MHz values. For most of the OC P965 chipsets are popular as they allow a higher front side bus. 975X chipsets provide on average between 390-450MHz FSB while climbing the P965 chipsets often 500MHZ FSB Wall.
The ICH7R 4 SATA channels are provided, which in contrast to the older ICH6 300 MByte / s - instead of 150 MB / s provide. More SATA channels are made possible only through more controllers, such as Silicon Image. The ICH7R version allows Serial ATA hard drives running in RAID0, RAID1, RAID5 or RAID-10 mode. Additionally, the module a special Matrix-RAID mode in the two-disk operation. Native Command Queuing, including Native hot plug is also one of the features of the ICH7R. Intel calls this feature as Matrix Storage Technology.
Furthermore sees Intel 975X chipset for the front a high-definition audio controller on the motherboard, which is often implemented by controller from Realtek. A Gbit LAN controller is part of the equipment of the ICH7R and other connections are also made here of additional controllers available. It varies from manufacturer to manufacturer.
