Default Connecting case fans to Motherboard or power supply

Me again. I have currently got a Corsair Obsidian 800D case and found that there are a many more fans than there are power attached on the mobo I'm using. I've ordered a fan controller but I was thinking...fans don't use a ton of power and there are three 120mm mounts on the apex that I happen to use.So my question is what if I connected the three top fans in parallel?

Why not just attach them to the power connectors all the fans dont require to be attached to the motherboard they make adapters to do it.
