Chipset ATI Xpress 200 CrossFire ™ platform for Intel released almost simultaneously with the same chipset for AMD. The common component of both chipsets is SB450 south bridge. As we have found in a review Xpress 200 chipset CrossFire ™ chip that supports 4 channels SerialATA (but not SerialATA II), 8 ports USB2.0, High Definition Audio. In other words, the possibility of expanding the new chipset ATI are at the level of the previous generation of Intel chipsets (ie ICH6), and to compensate for this shortcoming, the developers will have to install additional controllers motherboards. The only place SB450 better ICH6 and ICH7 is to support ParallelATA: two channels, one against. Incidentally, support ParallelATA be totally excluded in the new southern ICH8 the bridge, so that users of Intel systems have some time to upgrade hard drives and similar CDDVD drives.

Northbridge (it is called RD400X) has a memory controller that supports DDR2 667/533/400 MHz modules. In doing so, the total memory up to 4 GB (less than 8 Gb chipset from Intel, and 16 Gb chipset from nVidia). As a result, in order to build a system that supports CrossFire ™ will be the best choice for the motherboard chipset Intel (i955X or i975X). A purchase of the budget cards on the Xpress 200 chipset CrossFire ™ (which include model ECS PA1 MVP Extreme), it is better to abstain until Sales not appear cheap video card with support for ATI CrossFire.
