Thunderbolt is the complete quickest costumer interface present for consumers who need high-velocity outer memory. We showed this in our Pegasus RSix review where we held transfer rates of One GB/s (8Gbps) from an array of 5 SF-2281 SSDs. There are only 2 troubles with Thunderbolt recent: 1) It is practically just in build on Macs, and 2) the hope Pegasus is extremely costly.
In its affordable form, the Four TB Pegasus RFour with 4 One TB 3.5 inch HDDs will adjust you back a cool grand. Need the Six-bay edition? And the higher of the line 12TB example. Less than bill is the recount price of the hard drives, the rest is all chassis, controller hardware and of course producers benefits. As great as the Pegasus is for professionals who require the memory and function, it is priced so high for most costumers who too need quick outer storage.
LaCie promises to extend an optional for those who need more cheap Thunderbolt storage. Observe that I said more low-cost, and not only affordable.
Previous month LaCie freed its Small Big CD, a 2 bay (2.5 inch), entire metal Thunderbolt covered. Like hope, the Small Big CD is in build only with drives pre-set up. Unhappily our promises of meeting a BYOD Thunderbolt enclosure stay unrealized. LaCie's pricepoints are a bit more effective than Promise's, although you are acquirings a long less function result in back.
The drives are in build on Apple's online shop as good as Apple's retail position. The 240GB SSD example is even various weeks away from availability, so what we are expecting at recent is the Two TB HDD result. I just had a fixeds time with the Small Big CD and was not granteds to take it apart, so forgive me in improvements for the brevity of this review.
