GIGABYTE'S GA-X4 SERIES MOTHER board with the latest Intel X48 chipset. The board is design for enthusiast for extreme over clocking and a gamer for extreme performance. The extreme motherboard supports Intel's latest multi-core processor up to FSB 1600MHz. The GA-X48-DS5 supports ATI's CrossFireX with true dual PCI-E 2.0x16 connectivity for the ultimate in extreme gaming performance.The motherboard also supports DDR2 at 1200MHz.
The motherboard is designed with DES technology, an energy saving techniques, that reduces the power consumption of the motherboard. As far as the quality of sound is concerned, the motherboard supports ALC889A with DTS Connect, enables high quality Full Rate Lossless Audio and supports for both Blu-ray and HD DVD.
As far as connectivity is concerned the GA-X48-DS5 comes with a dual Gigabit Ethernet LAN through Teaming, 8 USB 2.0 at the back panel and two IEEE 1394a port.
As for the expansion with external devices the'mother¬board supports a dual PC Ie slot, and 8 Sata slot for your hard drives. The GA - X 48- DS5 also has four DIMM slots that can support up to 16GB or RAM space. We set up a test bed for this motherboard including Intel's Core @ Extreme X9650 @3GHz, Kingston HyperX 2GB DDR2 @800MHz,NivdiaGeForce9800GTX,Seagate 250GB hard drive @ nOOrpm running on Windows XP XP2. We ran a sets of benchmarks and some games to come out with the final performance results.
On our benchmark we used SYS mark 2004 SE and the GA-X48-DS5 scored 364, with Internet Content creation scoring 499 and Office productivity scoring 266. The 3DMark 06 score was at 13631 and PCMark05 score a good 7686 with a graphic score ofl4788. on the gaming front Unreal Tournament score 62fps and FEAR score 368fps.
Over all the mother performs quite well.
It's an easy setup with color combination. The motherboard board layout has been nicely done with no expansion device blocking each others. The pricing is also decent enough for its feature and performance.
