ASUSM3N78-EH MOTHERBOARD IS AN ATX form factor based on nForce 730a MCP chipset. The ASUS M3N78-EH is a budget conscious motherboard supported with a multi-core processor including Socket AM2+, Phenom FX, Phenom, AtWon and Sempron. The M3N78-EH integrates NVIDIA nForce 730a chipset which delivers NVIDIA Gigabit LAN and supports for easy RAID configuration for a serial AT A 3GBps. It also supports for DDRZ1066 (the DDRZ1600 is supported by selected AM2+ CPUs only) providing a faster speed to transfer data and more bandwidth to increase memory data transfer thus enhancing the computing efficiency of the system and performance of 3D graphics.
As far as expansion is concerned the M3N78- EH has 4 slots for RAM expansion, each capable of handling 2GB DDRZ at 1066MHZ, making it a total of 8GB. A storage expansion includes a single IDE along with six SATA port. The motherboard also comes with 4USB at the back paneL It comes integrated with a 8 channel HD audio enabling high-quality 192KHz/24-bit audio output, jack-detect feature, which automatically detects and identifies what types of peripherals are plugged into the audio I/O jacks and notifies users of inappropriate connection, meaning there will be no more confusion of Line-in, Line-out and Mic jacks.
To test the mother board, we run a series of test on SYSmark 2004 SE, 3D Mark 06, and PC Mark 05 and a set of multiple games. We also run Cinebench RIO which helped in rendering multiple CPU and it gave a 1770CB-CPU for a single CPU and 3149 for multiple CPU. And OpenGL of 3466CNB-GFX was the graphic score. SYSmark 2004 overall rating comes to 235 with Internet Content creation scoring 278 and Office productivity scoring 198.
We also run a FEAR and Unreal Tournament 3 for the gaming test. It scored an average of1l8FPS on FEAR at a screen resolution of 1024x768. Over all this is an exceptionally good motherboard for budget conscious consumers, but with more and more expansion being integrated on motherboard these days, the lack of Firewire/eSata/HDMI can be a draw back for some enthusiasts.
