DDR3 memory isn't mainstream yet due to the limited number of available motherboard chipsets which support it, coupled with its high price. But that doesn't stop power users from splurging on high-end hardware to keep pace with the latest technology. If you belong to this league and want high end DDR3 memory, here's a low-latency memory kit from A-DATA that promises solid performance.

FEATURES AND PERFORMANCE:
The Vitesta Extreme DDR3-1333+ modules are available in 2 GB and 4 GB dual-channel kits and are packed in red heat spreaders with chrome A-DATA logos running across them. The memory runs with 7-7-7-70 timings and operates between 1.75 and 1.85 Volts. These timings are not the most aggressive for DDR3-1333 but are certainly better than the CAS latency of 9 found in most entry level DDR3 modules.

The fastest DDR3 memory we have come across so far is the Kingston HyperX DDR3-1375 which runs at 5-7-5-15 timings. We tested the modules on the Nvidia nForce 790i Ultra chipset and set the timings manually to match its rated specifications. The FSB to memory ratio was set to 1: 1. To overclock the memory, we cranked the FSB up from 1333 MHz to 1500 MHz while keeping the CPU speed constant (FSB 375 x 4). We had to loosen the CAS latency to 8 to allow the memory to run at a higher frequency.

VERDICT: The Vitesta Extreme DDR3-1333+ is a good option for power users who want memory which performs better than standard DDR3 modules. There's also plenty of headroom for overclocking.
FOR: Decent overclocking, good performance at stock settings.
AGAINST: None.
