Huntkey's Titan650 power supply is aimed at those who are building a new computer for use as a workstation PC or a server. Adequately supplying power up to 650 watts, this SLI-ready PSU is also sufficient for powering mid to high-level gaming
rigs. It has enough power connectors to run up to 12 hard drives simultaneously
(4 SATA + 8 PATA drives), which is something to consider when building a
file server system. The power supply unit is slightly heavier than other conventional 650 Watt power supplies by a few 100 grams more and that mayor may not be of concern to heavy-power users. The PSU is built with an internal low-speed 120 mm cooling fan which increases airflow and also reduces the noise level of your computer.
The PSU also has a built-in protection systems circuit which features over-voltage, over¬power, short circuit and no-load-operation protection. Also along with line input fuse protection, the power supply has a lower chance of breaking down and helps protect expensive peripherals which might be connected. The manufacturer claims the PSU to have an efficiency of up to 80 percent: which helps save power while operating stably even under heavy load. The Titan650 is equipped with two 6-pin PCle power connectors, making it adequate for running today's power hungry graphics cards in SLI or CrossFire. Sadly, the unit's cables are not modular, thus suffocating the inside of the cabinet with cable clutter, choking airflow and making the cabinet look ugly.
VERDICT: The features, power rating and efficiency of this unit are great. It is an excellent choice if you are in search of a decent, heavy-duty power supply unit for building a server or a gaming rig. But you may want to give it a second thought if you are using a smaller PC case, as it lacks a modular design. FOR: Efficiency, lengthy cables, good power protection features, low noise. AGAINST: No modular design.
