The WL-2000CAM wireless camera from Air Live is designed to meet your surveillance needs. It is easy to install, and can be monitored and configured using any internet browser via the local network or the Internet. It features a 0.25-inch progressive CMOS sensor and is capable of lOx digital zoom. Connectivity options are Wi-Fi 802.11 g and 10/100 Ethernet. The LEDs are normal bright white LEDs which can be turned on permanently or configured to auto mode for low light conditions. The camera comes with an IP scanning utility which helps locate it on your local network and configure it. Once you configure the I P address of the camera (either a static or dynamic IPl. it can be controlled and monitored from the browser. if you use the wireless option, it can only be connected to Wi-Fi router, not directly to a computer through a ad-hoc connection, which is a little disappointing. It features WPA encryption for added security.
You can monitor the video feed from any location in the world on a computer or mobile phone by assigning a live IP to the camera, and setting the gateway and DNS addresses. The camera has a built-in microphone, and you can even connect a speaker. The product is bundled with a power adapter and a wall mounting stand. The camera streams video in simultaneous Motion JPEG and MPEG-4 at a resolution of 640 x 480 and up to 30 fps, giving you a clear view of the subject being monitored. It also features motion capture. Using this feature, you can set three different motion sensitive areas in the frame and automatically have images sent to you using FTP, SMTP or HTTP as soon as the camera detects motion.
VERDICT: The WL-2000CAM is a great, easy to use, plug-and-play surveillance camera, which is useful in most environments.
FOR: Good video resolution, two-way audio communication, ease of installation. AGAINST: Infrared not present as claimed, camera can be stolen easily if installed outdoors.
