Thread: The Cannot connect my friends laptop to my wireless network

Yes I cannot join my friend’s laptop to my wireless network. The wireless icon pops up saying there are wireless connections in range. I show up in the list. It shows 5 bars. So I click to connect. Type in the passphrase. Then it does a little strange. It doesn’t attempt to connect. It restores the show all wireless networks again. Then it shows mine. So I click connect again. This time it shows that the passphrase has been typed in. I then click to connect and then it tries to connect and after a minute it discontinues and shows that it hasn’t connected. I have no idea what to do because I have directly connected this laptop with an ethernet cable from router to laptop and it connects well. What should I try to do?

• Stop encryption and MAC Address filtering on router and try to join. Assuming success you can possibly re-enable encryption and rejoin. If failed please show
Start, Run, CMD, OK to open a command prompt:
Type the following command:
IPCONFIG /ALL
Right click in the command window and pick Select All, then press Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.
If needed make use of a text file and detachable medium to copy the results to PC with internet access.

• I solved this problem through some searching on net. I found latest driver for IPN2220 Wireless LAN Card. This driver was not latest on website. Come to discover INPROCOMM the company who makes this card is no longer. This driver update solves the problem that Windows XP Service Pack 3 caused.
