Thread: The Random drops and rolls

I have a DLink DIR 655 router on home network. I have an XP laptop and two Vista HP desktops. Using 802.11g/n mix. Even more but random in nature I drop my internet connection. It comes back in a minute or two. When I was searching help for the route it dropped. It may have given a hint: "the gateway is measuring network connection, accessing this web page might effect measurement" It doesn't appear to be any one web page. I will start new. I have seen the router log pages but I do not see something directly. It should be the router or network as all PCs and the wireless signal are affected. Between drops all appears fine. I am using McAfee AV, but it was "expired" for a some weeks and I still had drops.

You can try these things that are listed below.

1. For wireless connections, eliminate all the stored wireless profiles and search for networks. You have to enter the encryption key again, which is occasionally the problem for connection problems.
2. For wireless connections, modify channel on router.
3. For wireless connections, attempt for moving either wireless router/AP or wireless PC. Yet a few feet will now and then create a huge difference.
4. Update network drivers both wired and wireless on PC to most recent available.
5. Update firmware to most recent version available on manufacturer's site.
6. Reset router to factory defaults and reconfigure.

Many times these determine will solve a many irregular problems.
