Default Wireless network out of range error

I am in a latest place on an IBM ThinkPad G40 running XP SP3 attempting to connect to Comcast cable internet through a Linksys wireless G router. I was on almost the exact same setup where I lived earlier and never had problem connecting via WiFi to network. Now though even when I sit in similar room as router and attempt to connect to the network I get this message:

"The wireless network is either out of range or no longer exists, try refreshing available networks."

Everyone in house is enabling to connect and I have tried all typical troubleshooting suspects and unable to solve this on my own. My knowledge of wireless network is kind of crap so please give suggestion.

If I stop encryption, does this mean network will no longer be password protected? Also, does my laptop want to be hooked up to the router to make these adjustments?

    Hi,

Stop the encryption, yes it will mean no longer password protected, but just to see if you connect without the password - then we can attempt and get security password back again.
