Thread: Help with Internet Connected but no Browser

Hi,everyone

I can set up a connection wired and wirelessly on my PC. I called my ISP and they verified that it is valid connection. But browsers say is "cannot display webpage". I used ie8, Netscape, Google chrome, safari, Firefox, and opera. They all cannot open a page. I tried to disable firewall, and downloaded Winsock fix. I can ping Google and got four responses. The program called pokerstars and I can attach to internet through it and play poker. I have a version of Symantec antivirus that has been on my PC.I am going to attempt LSPfix, Malwarebytes, uninstall Norton, install avast avg, and going to utilize hijack this to observe if that gives me any clues. Also trying this "Update for Windows to notice if that do anything well.

Contact your ISP and ask them to verify ip address of their DNS servers. Then setup the proper DNS by yourself as per below.

1. Open Start >> Control Panel >> Network Connections.

2. Locate internet connection in “LAN or High-Speed Internet”

3. Right tick on connection and choose properties.

4. Choose Internet Protocol Version 4 (tcp/ipv4) and hit Properties button.

Try replacing DNS server. Follow the commands at OpenDNS for Windows and organize to utilize OpenDNS for DNS server.

Uninstall Norton and then run Symantec's Norton Removal Tool. Even an anti-virus program will occasionally avoid internet access if its data definitions are outdated.
