Default My pc Port Blocking Problem

I reside in a 4/4 apartment with three other guys and we all share internet. That being said, it is clear that at least one of the other two guys is taking more than their fair share of the bandwidth. Despite being on a cable modem, You tube videos load slowly, music streams in chunks, and photos show up at 56k speeds. Someone is using a P2P program and what it is doing to the internet speeds is improper. I have asked that they stop and they haven't. So now I would like to block it from the routers I purchased.

I also know that Limewire, the program they expected use, has capacity to enthusiastically set up ports to avoid port blocking. Thus I just want to block all that I do not want.

Now, I have tried blocking each port past 1000 except for generally used ports such as 2049, 2401, and 8080 but my internet no longer runs. Does anyone what ports are vital to internet browsing, away from what I have listed?

    Hi,

Set up MAC filtering and do not permit MAC address on network. When he observes light, let him back in.

If you have a router that is friendly with DD-WRT 3rd party firmware, it gives some bandwidth management ability which would possibly do this.

    Hello,all

8080 is not a commonly used port. Look at the services file in windows\system32\drivers\etc. That gives you common ports that Windows uses. Some of the main ports are 80, 443, 53, 20, and 21. Though, online video games will utilize random ports that you may block by mistake.

I would think that having other people go in on a separate ISP account and let him pay for his by himself. As he wants to control the entire thing, let him pay for it also.
