Default The Network issue between Windows XP sp3 and Vista sp1

    Hi everyone,

For long time I was able to attach to my XP desktop from vista wireless. I gave up for a long time but I am attempting now to solve the problem particularly when I want to utilize a printer for home work. Current configuration Desktop XP sp3 wired to cable modem and netgear wireless router. Hp printer connected to Desktop. Laptop wireless using Vista sp 2 Each time I attempt to attach to Desktop XP from

Vista laptop I get following error: \\ computer name is not accessible you might not have permission .Logon failure the user has not been granted the requested logon type at this computer.

On desktop side I have no problem connecting to laptop vista. On desktop event viewer the requested logon from vista are shown as logon audit failure with the following message: Log on process ntlmssp type3

    Microsoft authentication package_v1_0

I tried so several things already recommended it will be too long to put them here. But I always reorganize my systems to original configurations. Any new advice or solution would be highly appreciated.

Is the printer sharing the single thing you would like to do? Have you execute printer sharing wizard in XP? Start/Printers and Faxes, right-click on printer, go to Properties and click on sharing tab. Then set up the HP in your laptop as a network printer.
You can see icon for your desktop in the laptop network listings.

The printer-sharing wizard generally works effortlessly for me, but getting two Windows PCs to do file sharing has always been an exercise in irritation. I have got it to work a some times, but I never knew how.

Logon failure: the user has not been allowed requested logon type at this PC If you get this message following should be done on PC having shared files: Download Windows Server 2003 Resource Kit Tools and install it .After installation is finish, go to Start, All Programs, Windows Resource Kit Tools, Command Shell Then enter following given commands.

    net user guest /active:yes
    ntrights +r SeNetworkLogonRight -u Guest
    ntrights -r SeDenyNetworkLogonRight -u Guest

The first command enables network access for Guest, the two subsequent ones modify two various policies to permit network access for Guest.

With unknown sharing, workstations within network do not have to verify. This does not modify protection from Internet threats that is your firewall and router settings.
You do not want guest account active. You can delete .REG file, you do not want it again.
