Default The Windows Vista gets stuck on configuring updates

    Hi,all

When I switch on PC every time my vista says it says configuring updates step 3 of 3. But it stuck on that screen and never ends, I have tried restarting and I continue getting that screen. I have tried safe mode and last known good configuration and it continues showing that screen.

I also can’t rename pending.xml file because I can’t obtain access to a command prompt. I don’t have a vista CD because my laptop came already installed with vista so the CDs I got are a bootable image and not actual vista CD.

I want to attempt to run several programs but can’t get on to windows. Can anyone give ideas?

After update installed from Windows Update, you find into a Reboot loop where your system obtains to “configuring updates 3 of 3. 0% complete” then restarts.

1a) Boot to Windows DVD and select repair option, select System Restore, and choose a Restore Point predating the attempted installation of the updates.

1b) if you don't have DVD and Vista came already installed on system, start in Safe Mode using F8 during startup.

Once in Safe Mode, do System Restore as shown below:

    Start | Run | (type in) rstrui.exe | [OK]

Choose an available Restore Point predating attempted installation of updates.

    Please Solution:

    Hi,

You want to make out which update is causing problem. When you execute a windows update, choose just one update to be installed, restart, if it starts OK then do one more, until you get one that is causing the loop.

I have similar problem but am unable to continue past configuring updates stage even when in safe mode.

My updates get to 50% then stop. After approximately 5 minutes it goes to blue screen and starts to test disks. After finding nothing wrongs it then restarts and repeats process.

Is there something I can do to save it?
