Default Windows Vista home basic going incredibly slow

    Hi,everyone

Now I buy a used ASUS x53sr notebook from friend. I have used this computer several times at his house so I know it works well. The problem is that I format again installed vista home basic and it is terrible. All takes much time to load. Each webpage opening the start menu, listening to music. It stops every 5 seconds when I am online and it’s a nightmare. I read that the ATI radeon hd 2400 graphics drivers clash with Vista so I uninstalled them but that made things worse as now I can’t back online for some reason to update driver. I have 2 gig ram so that’s not the problem, plus I don’t have actually any programs installed yet. Can anyone give some ideas?

    Hi,

Can you do a memory test to check your RAM? Burn ISO Image to a CD/DVD and boot from it. Then, follow the instructions.

    Hello,all

What did you utilized to recreate system, a “Retail" DVD, "System Recover" to Factory settings, or a DVD that came with system?

If you use retail DVD, then you lost most if not every drivers and may using only "Generic" ones that comes with Windows.

I used vista cd from a totally different machine. A Fujitsu Siemens notebook. I formatted partition then did a new install. Then I went to ASUS website and downloaded all in their drivers which were like 48 items. It was working kind of for like two days but now I can’t do anything. I even tried to again install graphics drivers but it won’t work. So now I have this screen resolution with a pc that is virtually useless.

    Thanks for help.

You want to obtain DVD from ASUS as one from Fujitsu is modified for their machines.

It would be excellent to start, using appropriate DVD and instructions. You also want Key Code that ASUS machine has.
