Default Can’t get Bluetooth to work on Windows vista? Please help.

    Hi,everyone

I have been attempting to get Bluetooth to work on "ASUS Notebook F5GL Series" with vista. I can’t look to get it working. There is no Bluetooth icon in taskbar, and I go to control panel, hardware and sound, down to Bluetooth and click Bluetooth settings but nothing occurs, I also click add a wireless device but it does not locate something, my brother has a laptop running XP and his Bluetooth is working well. I have asked him but he has no idea about it. I was surprising if someone knew what to do?

    Hi,

Go to device manager in vista then go to Start, Control Panel, Classic view, system device manager - on left hand side network adapters.

There is switch or Function key arrangement to allow Bluetooth adapter. Also verify BIOS to ensure it is enabled.

There is a wireless LAN switch on side of my PC but that is always turned on and there is also a Function key arrangement to turn that off and on, or else there is no switch or Function key arrangement to enable Bluetooth. So I went to BIOS and I found this, bthmodem Bluetooth serial communications driver it says that it is not started, and disabled on start mode. How do I enable this?

    Hi,

Are you confident that laptop came with a Bluetooth adapter?

I am confident that it did come with a built in Bluetooth adapter because on front of the laptop there is a slight light with Bluetooth symbol next to it but the light isn’t on, and Bluetooth is also in control panel.

    Hi,friends

You must download the manual; you will see a wireless and Bluetooth switch in the center of front of the laptop which pushed in turns on wireless light and function. It is right to left of the flash memory slot which is in the center of the front of the laptop. It's difficult to tell but it might be wireless symbol itself that is the switch.

I thought possibly the FN + F2 may toggle - switch on wireless / switch on Bluetooth etc every time it’s toggled.

A Bluetooth symbol on the case is not a suggestion of hardware it have. If a Bluetooth module is elective, some companies make use of similar case, with similar symbols, for PCs that have an adapter and those that don't.

When I tried to install F5GI driver it shows an error message that device could not be found, and then with the other, it went through with installation and completed. It does not say anything about Bluetooth in the start menu, all programs. And when I click Bluetooth settings absolutely nothing shows.

There is a switch on the left hand side of PC that is for WLAN, and does not change Bluetooth status; the FN + f2 function does similar thing. I am starting to consider that this laptop did not come with Bluetooth, but then why would Bluetooth be in control panel and it says that it is disabled in the system information?

    Hello,

Vista always has a Bluetooth icon in Control Panel, my office desktop has one even though it is never had a Bluetooth adaptor. The specification for your laptop says Bluetooth is elective so you just may not have the hardware.

Wrong, I have two other vista machines, Toshiba and HP and they do not have Bluetooth on and do not have a Bluetooth icon in the control panel.

    Hi,

I don't familiar with about Asus, but on both my HP and Dell laptops there is one switch that controls both Wi-Fi and Bluetooth radios. On my HP my Bluetooth shows in Device Manager under Network Adapters if and only if the switch is on. If you have Bluetooth I feel that you must be able to locate it in BIOS (SETUP).
