Hello,
I have Windows Vista Home Premium OS with IE8 and Trend Micro security software on a Dell XPS laptop. I attach to Net via a wired cable modem and do not have other PCs in home. I have been unable to attach to the Internet for some days.
When I go to Internet connections, settings, I get an "undetected error" message with LAN connection box. I spent 70 minutes with a Microsoft customer for reading off a script--no help. I called Dell tech support and they told me my browser was damaged, that I would have to back up all my files to an external hard drive and then they would have to reformat PC to solve issue.
This is extreme and I think like this is a simple fault but no one can appear to put their finger on it. I saw a idea about downloading a virus removal tool at malwarebytes.org but I can't do that because I can't attach to Internet. What's the answer?
Thanks.
