A Wired Equivalent Privacy key is needed for the HP laptop to log in a network implementing WEP security. If the primary WEP key is distorted on the network router, the WEP key settings on the HP laptop will require update. Upgrading the WEP key on the HP laptop may be accomplished within few steps.
• Click "Start" and go to "Control Panel".
• Click "Network and Sharing Center".
• Click "Manage Wireless Networks" link form the Network and Sharing Center.
• Find the WEP enabled network for which the key will be distorted on the HP laptop. Double click the icon of the network. The "Wireless Properties" dialog box for the network will come up.
• Click "Security".
• Type the new WEP key in the input box labeled "Network Security Key."
• Click "OK". The WEP key will be distorted now.
• Connect to the WEP enabled network to check the new key entry.
