Each connected to the Internet has an IP address. As PCs speak in numbers, these IP addresses are sets of numbers. The Dynamic Name System converts the numerical IP address into an related alphabetic name, which is very easy to use, understand and remember. Computers connected to the Internet are usually connected through a DNS server. To search the IP address of primary or secondary DNS server in MS Windows, need to use the command prompt.

• Go to "Start" and choose "All Programs." Or else, open the "Start" and choose "Run."

• Choose "Accessories" followed by "Command Prompt." Using the optional method, enter "cmd" in the text box that appeared and click "OK."

• Enter "ipconfig /all" at the command prompt and "Enter."

• Scroll the listing that is shown and look for the primary DNS server. If a primary server is not listed and only "DNS Server" appears in the list, possibly have a dynamic IP address, which means it can change every time access the Internet. This is normal between some Internet service providers. In this case, contact the supplier or search its website to find the range of servers it uses as DNS servers.
